Cancer in Africa Online (CIAO®) Journal is a publication of the Society of Oncology and Cancer Research of Nigeria (SOCRON). It is an online open access journal, with a mission to be an international portal for the publication of scholarly peer reviewed cancer related articles on Africa, Africans and people of African ancestry all over the world. The journal welcomes submissions on all aspects of cancer research in Africa or Africans, including basic sciences, molecular biology, clinical trials, cancer biology, genetics, epidemiology, cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Criteria for publicationThe journal places much emphasis on articles that are well researched and logically presented, especially those with significant potential to impact cancer control efforts globally and in Africa as a region. Materials submitted to the Cancer in Africa Online (CIAO®) journal is accepted for review and publication with the understanding that it has not been published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Such articles will also not be presented to any other journal unless and until it is rejected by the journal or formally and expressly withdrawn by the author(s). The letter of submission should state that the manuscript has not been published and is not under consideration for publication by any other journal. It will be presumed that all listed authors of a manuscript have agreed to the listing and have seen and approved the manuscript.
The CIAO® journal does not hold itself responsible for statements made by the authors. Authors are responsible for the claims, statements and conclusions in their manuscripts.
