Cancer in Africa Online (CIAO®) Journal is a publication of the Society of Oncology and Cancer Research of Nigeria (SOCRON). It is an online open access journal, with a mission to be an international portal for the publication of scholarly peer reviewed cancer related articles on Africa, Africans and people of African ancestry all over the world. The journal welcomes submissions on all aspects of cancer research in Africa or Africans, including basic sciences, molecular biology, clinical trials, cancer biology, genetics, epidemiology, cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
Criteria for publication
The journal places much emphasis on articles that are well researched and logically presented, especially those with significant potential to impact cancer control efforts globally and in Africa as a region. Materials submitted to the Cancer in Africa Online (CIAO®) journal is accepted for review and publication with the understanding that it has not been published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Such articles will also not be presented to any other journal unless and until it is rejected by the journal or formally and expressly withdrawn by the author(s). The letter of submission should state that the manuscript has not been published and is not under consideration for publication by any other journal. It will be presumed that all listed authors of a manuscript have agreed to the listing and have seen and approved the manuscript.
The CIAO® journal does not hold itself responsible for statements made by the authors. Authors are responsible for the claims, statements and conclusions in their manuscripts.
Manuscript processing fees
A processing fee of $200 USD is charged for every accepted article, to cover the costs incurred by open access publication. We routinely waive this charge for authors from low-income countries.
Advertisement
The CIAO® journal is an interest stimulating publication with rapidly growing visitors’ number. It offers general and specific advantages for advertisement. Rates are duration dependent and are stated below.
Banner images are to be prepared and submitted in GIF or JPEG formats; (maximum file size is 20kb; standard supported banner size is728x90 pixels. Banners will continue to run as submitted unless sponsors change them. Support for production of banners may be sought through the technical unit at the Home page.

The authors hold the copyright for all articles in CIAO journal. By submitting articles for publication, authors have granted to any third party, in advance and in perpetuity, the right to use, reproduce or disseminate the article, according to the CIAO® journal copyright and license rules.
Citing papers in the journal
CIAO® journal has no print version. As an online journal, CIAO® journal does not have issue numbers. Each volume corresponds to a calendar year. Articles in CIAO journal should be cited in the same way as articles in traditional print journals except that articles in this journal do not have page numbers. Instead, they have a unique article number and unique identifier number, the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) numbers.

refers to article 3 from volume 1 of the journal.
